Shopify is a popular e-commerce platform that allows small business owners to easily create and manage their own online stores. With its user-friendly interface and powerful tools, Shopify has become a go-to option for many entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their businesses online. But what about those who want to expand their reach even further? Can Shopify be linked to other platforms, such as Amazon?
The short answer is yes, you can link your Shopify store to Amazon, and in this article, we will explore the benefits of linking Shopify to Amazon and how to do it.
Give your customers the choice of where to buy
E-commerce platforms like Shopify and Amazon have made it easier than ever for small business owners to sell their products online. Both platforms offer a wide range of tools and features to help businesses create and manage their online stores, and they each have their own unique advantages.
By linking Shopify to Amazon, small business owners can take advantage of both platforms to reach a wider audience, increase their sales and grow their businesses in ways that most brand owners don't think of.
Now you might be thinking, why would I want to send my customers to Amazon to buy my products when they can buy them from my store and I can make more money?
And in all honesty, I agree, it's a bit silly. But people love to buy on Amazon because they get reassurance that isn't found elsewhere due to Amazon's customer-centric approach to selling online. Customers know that Amazon will be on their side if there's a problem.
Plus they know that if a product is being shipped via Prime that they'll get their order within two days.
On top of that, Amazon converts customers at a rate that 99.5% of online stores can only dream about with an average conversion rate of between 7-15%.
And at the end of the day, if it's a choice between buying your product(s) or not, sometimes you need to give customers that option.
But Amazon stats aside, in many cases, you will probably still get the sale on your own site instead of on Amazon because people rightly assume that you can be trusted, especially if you're selling your products cheaper on your own store than on Amazon and you offer all of the shipping benefits that Amazon customers enjoy.
The benefit of selling on Amazon
However, the biggest benefit of linking to Amazon is that the more you sell on Amazon the higher they will promote you in their own search engine and the more sales you will make. It will effectively act as a flywheel that generates more and more sales and revenue.
Amazon is the largest e-commerce platform in the world, and by listing products on it, small business owners can expose their products to a much wider audience than they would be able to on their own. Additionally, Amazon offers a variety of tools, such as Amazon Prime and the Amazon Marketplace, that can help small business owners increase their sales and reach new customers.
Fulfil all orders from Shopify & Amazon
Another benefit of linking Shopify to Amazon is the ability to streamline the sales and fulfilment process. By using Shopify's powerful inventory management and order fulfilment tools, small business owners can easily and efficiently fulfil orders placed on Amazon, assuming they aren't using FBA (fulfilment by Amazon).
This can help to reduce errors, improve customer satisfaction and increase overall efficiency.
There is also the option that Amazon provides called seller fulfilled prime which is a program that allows sellers to have the prime badge on their listings without having to send their products to Amazon's warehouses.
There are however very strict performance-related targets that sellers must meet for them to receive and hold onto the prime badge if this is something you intend to consider.
In the next section, we will go through the steps of linking Shopify to Amazon, including how to connect the platforms, how to list products on Amazon and how to manage sales and fulfilment. With the right approach and a bit of effort, small business owners can successfully link Shopify to Amazon and take their businesses to the next level.
What requirements are needed to sell on Amazon?
Before you link your store up to Amazon, there are some basic requirements you'll need as an Amazon seller:
- Have a Professional Seller account that gives you access to better Amazon tools like a storefront and more analytics features
- Make sure all relevant bank and tax details are uploaded and correct
- Make sure that your Shopify store's returns policy is the same as or similar to Amazon's policy. This isn't completely necessary but it will help if your store ever gets checked.
Amazon is notoriously trigger-happy when it comes to suspending accounts, so make sure that you've done as much as possible to stay within it's terms and conditions.
Adding the Amazon sales channel to your Shopify store
To add the Amazon sales channel to your store follow these steps:
- Go to your Shopify dashboard
- Click on the apps button
- In the app store search for “Amazon sales channel”
- Choose the Amazon sales app that you feel is best suits you
- Click add app
- Follow the directions for setting the Amazon sales channel app up
My personal favourite Amazon sales channel app is Amazon by Codisto because it offers everything you need to sell on both channels.
Shopify Amazon inventory sync
By using an app like Amazon by Codisto you can update and sync your inventory in real-time so that you don't oversell and know exactly how much stock you have at any given time.
This is assuming that you aren't using FBA, in which case you can simply send your stock to Amazon and they can handle the shipping, returns and all customer services with regard to complaints
How Shopify and Amazon Can Help Small Businesses Succeed
E-commerce has revolutionized the way businesses sell products and services, and platforms like Shopify and Amazon have made it easier than ever for small businesses to establish an online presence. By linking Shopify to Amazon, small business owners can take advantage of both platforms to reach a wider audience, increase their sales, and grow their businesses.
Shopify as an eCommerce platform allows small business owners to create, manage and take complete control of their own online stores.
On the other hand, Amazon is the largest e-commerce platform in the world and offers third-party sellers one thing above everything else, exposure of their products to a much wider audience than they would be able to on their own. Additionally, Amazon offers a variety of really great features, such as FBA that will remove a lot of hassle when it comes to shipping.
And when you send your products in for FBA they automatically receive the Amazon Prime badge which will also massively increase sales because customers know that they are getting their orders sent to them by Amazon.
